Physician and Community Civic Leader
Usha Vasan obtained her medical degree from Mysore Medical College, India in 1974 and moved to the United States in 1975 where she did a residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in pediatric hematology and oncology. Prior to moving to Parkersburg, Usha did lab research for three years at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda MD. Usha keeps busy doing volunteer work in both India and the US with various organizations. Having a wealth of community and professional knowledge, Usha was invited to be an Ex-Officio Member of the PACF's Board after the completion of two terms in 2016. She is also an active member of the Foundation's Scholarships Committee. In her free time, Usha enjoys reading, traveling, and cooking.
Favorite thing about the PACF: "It is delightful to volunteer for the PACF mainly because of the dedicated executive director, staff, and board members. Everyone seems to do one's best. In addition to the very well managed investments, diligently chosen grants and scholarships, the Civic Leaders Fellowship Program has proven to be a great success. This summer apprentice program is giving an opportunity to our college students by exposing them to the 'real world jobs', there by encouraging them to return to our state."
